Women's month celebration
March each year sees the world join together to celebrate Women's Month-the time set aside for recognition and advocacy of women achievements and gender equality. The theme for this year's celebration is "WE for Gender Equality and an Inclusive Society," as emphasis is being placed on collective actions or efforts towards making the world suitable for all, irrespective of gender, to enjoy equal rights, opportunities, and respect.
What is Gender Equality Understanding?
Gender equality is about empowering men as much as it empowers women, for it also means working toward an opportunity for everyone, irrespective of gender identity, to have the same access to opportunities, resources, and decision-making power. An inclusive society works to break down those barriers that really kept people out based on antiquated stereotypes or discrimination.

Throughout the different arenas of life such as science, politics, sports, and business, women have showcased what they can deliver, yet the battle does not end because there are still residuals like gender-based violence, wage gaps, and poor representation in leadership positions. True gender equality can only be achieved by the transformation of attitudes and behavior, besides laws and policies.
The Role Played by 'WE" in Making it Inclusive
Gender equality is not a women's issue but a whole society issue as put forward by the theme that contains the word " WE". It calls upon government, business, educational, family, and individual levels to join in developing a culture of fair treatment, respect, and inclusion.
1. In Education: Gender equality comes right from the school that advocates equal opportunity for both boys and girls not just academically but also in leadership positions and extracurricular activities. The teaching of gender sensitivity should start the very early years so that children may embrace this mindset.
2. In Organizations: Equal wages for equal work, open leadership opportunities for women, and harassment- or otherwise-free safety environments are the objectives that should be found in all companies.
3. In Families and Communities: Parents must raise children to think they can pursue their career or ambition regardless of gender to break gender stereotypes.
Empowering Women to Create a Better Society
Empowerment of women means betterment to society as a whole. Gender equality is known to reflect in strong economies in countries as well as good educational systems and sound healthy communities. Women's participation in science, healthcare, business, and governance will come up with innovative thinking to carry developments.
Implications for Action towards an Inclusive Future
Building an inclusive society is not just for some but requires action from each and everyone. Here are some of the efforts we can make to contribute:
Challenge stereotypes: Stop defining roles based on gender and instead encourage people to pursue their interests and talents.
Supporting women owned businesses and initiatives: Economic empowerment is a key factor in achieving gender equality.
Advantage women's leadership: Women should always make their voices heard in any decision makings whether the decisions are made in schools, workplaces or governments.
Educate ourselves and others: Awareness is the first step toward change. If we understand the issues regarding gender, we can become great advocates for equality.
Equality and Inclusion Can Be the Horizon
In celebrating Women's Month, let us recognize that gender equality is more than an issue for women; it is an issue of human rights. An inclusive society is one that works for the benefit of all. And it is together that we can start the journey to eliminating barriers, confronting biases, and creating a future in which every person-gender notwithstanding-is free to dream, achieve, and lead.
